Ralph Harris developed his unique stand-up routine by incorporating characters into the act. "I wanted to get more response and take it to another level, for myself. So, I started taking Improv classes and tried to create characters." Says Harris.
While performing at a Hollywood comedy club, Harris was "discovered" by members of the Casting and Development Department of ABC Television. Harris soon found himself starring in his own television show for ABC called "On Our Own".
Ralph has been featured on several sitcoms and variety shows, he notes that even though he's done a few, one that stands out is the critically acclaimed series Seinfeld, which he actually believes is responsible for getting his acting career rolling. Along with Seinfeld, his credits include Parenthood, Nick Freno, Living Single and In Living Color. His other credits include Parenthood, Nick Freno, Living Single, The Strip, and In Living Color. Ralph has had several appearances on The Tonight Show With Jay Leno and Late Night With Conan O'Brien. He's also been featured on Entertainment Tonight, Extra and CNN.
Ralph's many television appearances have enabled him to highlight his talents, performing character comedy, to a broader audience - following in the footsteps of his idols, Bill Cosby and Jonathan Winters. In addition to acting, Ralph's passion for performing standup comedy live remains close to his heart. In fact, he continues to perform in sold out clubs across the country when not making television appearances. It wasn't until Ralph saw Eddie Murphy perform live that he was inspired to pursue stand up comedy.
One of the highlights of Ralph's early standup career was the night he performed his comedy routine opening for Janet Jackson's sold out Rhythm Nation concert tour in his hometown of Philadelphia. Ralph currently lives in Los Angeles and spends what free time he has creating new characters and touring comedy clubs around the country.
