Biography

(Born on May 25, 1955)

Bobby Slayton is a true comic’s comic. With his gravelly voice and in-your-face style, it's no wonder that stand-up comedian cum actor Bobby Slayton quickly earned the nickname "The Pitbull of Comedy." He has been performing his own intense style of standup comedy for 25 years, becoming one of the best known, and most energetic, comedians on the road. Slayton can currently be seen in a regular role on the HBO series “THE MIND OF THE MARRIED MAN,” which airs Sunday nights at 10:30p.m. The show, which debuted it’s second season on September 15th, follows a trio of reporters at a Chicago newspaper who try to remain faithful to their wives. Slayton, playing a character aptly named “Slayton,” portrays a married friend of one of the reporters who is also struggling to remain faithful to his wife.

After working tirelessly on the stand-up circuit for a number of years and frequently appearing on numerous popular stand-up comedy shows, Slayton made his feature debut in the Randy Quaid comedy Martians Go Home -- as the stand-up Martian of course. Among his feature rolls, Slayton was last seen on screen opposite Bruce Willis and Billy Bob Thornton in the MGM feature film “BANDITS,” directed by Barry Levinson. In the film, Slayton portrays the host of a tabloid TV show who follows the exploits of two bank robbers played by Willis and Thornton. Slayton will next be seen in the Paramount comedy “DICKIE ROBERTS: FORMER CHILD STAR,” starring David Spade. The film is scheduled to be released next year.

In addition to his TV and film work, Slayton’s first comedy CD “RAGING BULLY” is also currently in release. The critically acclaimed CD has received excellent reviews and is quickly becoming a cult favorite. The one-hour live recording addresses topics such as the death penalty, romance, porn and sexism-- all topics that Slayton is quick to take on, onstage and off. He also taped his own half hour comedy special, for Channel 5 in the United Kingdom, at London’s Comedy Store.

Audiences, critics, and the entertainment industry have all voiced their approval of the brazen, in your face comic. The New York Daily News described Slayton as “Armed and Dangerous!” and the American Comedy Awards voted him the “Funniest Male Stand-up Comic of the Year.”

In the film arena, Slayton garnered great reviews for his portrayal of “Joey Bishop,” opposite Ray Liotta and Joe Mantegna, in the critically acclaimed HBO original movie “The Rat Pack.” He appeared in Miramax’s “Third Wheel,” starring Ben Affleck and Luke Wilson, as well as the Sony Pictures’ release “Loser,” opposite Mena Suvari. Slayton has also had scene-stealing roles in such films as “Get Shorty” “Ed Wood,” and “Wayne’s World 2.”

Audiences across the country may also recognize Bobby from his many television appearances including “Later!”, “The Tonight Show,” & “Politically Incorrect.” He has been featured on “Access Hollywood,” and morning news shows across the country. A radio audience favorite, Slayton can be heard frequently on the morning show circuit including “The Howard Stern Show", “Tom Leykis” and the “Kevin & Bean Morning Show.”

Currently residing in Los Angeles, Slayton is married with one daughter, but finds time to terrorize audiences worldwide. Slayton has never given up comedy and makes it clear that acting is secondary to his standup work.
